On March 30, 2010, the unveiling ceremony for the Management Center for Medical Device Standards of SFDA was held in National Institute for the Control of Pharmaceutical and Biological Products (NICPBP). Zhang Jingli, Deputy Commissioner of the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) attended the ceremony and gave a speech.
Zhang said medical device standards were the technical criteria to be complied with in the research, production, distribution, use, and supervision of medical devices, and medical device standardization was an important basis for the supervision of medical device. SFDA will greatly encourage the improvement and innovation of medical device standards, establish and improve the medical device standards system, promote the development of China’s medical device industry and provide more supports to the supervision of medical devices to ensure the safety and effectiveness of medical devices for the public.
China has promulgated 180 national standards of medical devices, 727 industrial standards of medical devices and established 22 medical device standardization technical committees to offer technical supports for the supervision of medical device. |
